Counseling Approach
Counseling can be brief, focusing on a short-term problem-solving, self-empowerment treatment approach; or longer-term, focusing on deeper therapeutic healing and personal development.
Methods used are drawn from a wide range of approaches and vary with what each client wants and needs.
Information is gathered and fed back for clearer understanding of the issues and a client’s personality and orientation to life. Desired changes in perspectives, understanding and relating to others, goal setting, problem-solving, emotional and physical healing, and release of repeating dysfunctional patterns are enhanced through a wide variety of techniques; and clients are taught how to use many of the methods themselves as healing/learning tools for more effective living. I prize a warm, personal connection with my clients as we work cooperatively together. Counseling can be a stimulating, fulfilling, and enjoyable experience.
An assessment is made and an agreement is reached with each client regarding short- or long-term counseling goals and treatment methods to empower them and facilitate real, lasting improvements. For some, individual counseling may be sufficient. For others, the involvement of a spouse or significant other, family members, friends, or business associates may be important.
Fees are established on a sliding scale relative to a client’s annual income or insurance contract. Senior discounts are available.
Confidentiality and privacy requirements are upheld for protection.
Two offices in Palm Harbor and Clearwater make it convenient for clients living in the entire Tampa Bay area. Monday thru Thursday appointments are available.
I also facilitate referrals to physicians and other psychological, educational, and support services.

*EMDR is a form of bi-lateral brain stimulation achieved by moving the eyes side-to-side, using alternating sounds, or taps on hands.
It results in a natural “unhooking” and balancing of the brain which heals past trauma, stops phobias and a racing heart, changes old negative ideas that distort behavior, decisions, and self development.
